Minimalist, trance, jazz, there’s only one word that really fits: hypnotic. Dawn of Midi’s entire album, Dysnomia, is one slow build that, step by almost imperceptible step, sucks you in. The first track, below, is really just the first six minutes of the 45 minute song that is the album, each song a subtle progression in the overall texture. Three different musicians, three different time signatures, one crazy hypnotist swinging his watch in front of your face. If, when the track cuts off, you find it abrupt, even jarring, that just means their hypnotism is working.
